The Terrible Grammar of Mesnes Road Convenience Store

I'm not particularly a grammar nazi, but this is the shop I work in and I thought it was so poor that it deserved to be shamed! Especially since I've pointed out the mistakes numerous times and they haven't been corrected!

Enough said!

Home

I couldn't wait to get home tonight.

I decided while at work that it was time for another post on posterous so I was planning a post in my head.

I've also been at work since half eight this morning (14 hour shift). So I am understandably knackered! I can only just type, I'm so tired.

But the main reason is because at about 7:30PM I got an email on my phone saying my UCAS track had been updated. Unfortunately my phone is incapable of going on UCAS to see what the update was, although I was pretty certain it would be either an offer or a rejection from Liverpool. Because I only finished at about quarter past ten, that meant almost three hours of agonising wait to find out!

Anyway, I'm home now and I can reveal (in a blog exclusive I guess) that it was an offer from Liverpool. Even though thats not where I want to go, it means I have heard back from all my applications and I've got three offers out of four, which I am very pleased with (especially after zero offers last year). It means I can focus on deciding where I want to go now (I'm pretty sure it will be Durham at the moment) and start planning to leave home!

It's time for the universities to wait for my decision now! Which ia a pleasant change from me waiting on them!

That wasn't even the post I had planned to write, so that one can wait for another day. Anyway, I'm off to bed!

Medical schools, shin pads and one night stands

Haven't posted this week, not because I've lost interest in my blog already, I've just had a busy week which I shall update you presently through the medium of bullet points;

  • On Monday I got an unconditional offer from HYMS, which I am delighted with! Three years of hard work have finally paid off, and there's no pressure on me anymore to escape being a double reject for medical school. I don't find out until June if I'm at Hull or York, but I like both a lot and would be happy at either.
  • Bought some shin pads (learnt my lesson from two huge bruises I received at football last week), got them home to discover that the security tag was still on, without setting the alarm off in the shop. That meant an extra trip to town which was annoying, but at least now we all know if anyone wants to shoplift from Sports Direct, they don't have to worry about things with tags on!
  • My interview at Liverpool was on Thursday, thought it went really well, none of the questions were too outrageous and I think I had more confidence knowing there was no pressure. I'm not sure if I prefer it over Hull York, but I'll wait and see if I get an offer before I set my hopes on it, anyway.
  • Went to watch the recording of Dave's One Night Stand at The Palace Theatre in Manchester last night, Chris Addison headlined (hilarious),  Craig Campbell (even more hilarious) and Jo Enright (not as hilarious) supported, was a really good night, but the leg room at the Palace is almost non-existent, I'm surprised I didn't come out crippled. It's on TV in April (gonna be famous).
  • Started to learn French! Decided I was going to in September, but it's taken me until February to actually start. I do have a GCSE in it but I thought it would be best to start from scratch, hence "French for Dummies" has been purchased!
  • I have been sent a book of raffle tickets to sell for the charity I went to India with, the prize is a holiday in Norfolk, in September (glamorous, I know). I have 50 to get rid of, so if anyone would like one they're only £1. It's an amazing charity, even if it isn't an amazing prize.

I think that's about it for what's been happening. Sorry if I waffled, I tried my best to keep things concise.

Dammit

Just had my first "accident" while driving. Fortunately it was only a low speed impact (with the garage door), but it has resulted in a cracked wing mirror, which is really annoying!  Plus, as it's not my car, I also had to have an awkward conversation with my parents about what happened. We're going to try and repair it using glue and paint, but failing that a new wing-mirror will be needed (expensive). So if anyone has a spare left wing-mirror for a Toyota Yaris, please let me know.

Another nuisance is that I rang up the blood donation helpline today and I can't give blood for six months because I've been to an area with high malaria prevalence. So basically going to have to wait until August before I can give blood again, and if I go away in the summer it may end up being 2012 before I do!

Bad day!
